Styles of Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It uses an array of strokes to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of  your body tissue. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past injuries. Due to the nature of deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to ensure optimal results. Keep in mind that muscle soreness may be apparent after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of metabolic wastes that would have been released during our session.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is designed for people who engage active lifestyles and/or who are athletes. Engaging in an active lifestyle and/or participating in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries, in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance, pre and post event, and prolongs your active lifestyle by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling, relaxes the mind, and increases flexibility. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding in your recovery from an injury by encouraging greater awareness of your body, which in turn promotes your body's natural immune function.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a modality of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas that occur in the belly of your muscle. These areas of tension are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. Often during a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points which may recreate discomfort in an area of the body, other than the area currently being worked by the therapist. The process of "releasing" trigger points requires that we are in constant communication so as to maximize our session together.
